Researchers looked at the diets of nearly 500 women between the ages of 53 and 73 for a period of 12 and 15 years. The women selected did not have cataracts. Women who consumed a lot of antioxidant nutrients, like vitamins C and E, riboflavin, folate, beta carotene and lutein/zeaxanthin had less cloudiness in certain lens areas than did those with lower intakes of antioxidant nutrients. Results are published in the August 2003 issue of Agricultural Research magazine.
